Serving The Community

We grow when we put what we have learned into practice. Therefore, we encourage you to serve⎯whether within the church, in our community, or around the world – because service leads to life-change.

Serve Our Church

Our church is volunteer driven. We have many opportunities for you to invest yourself here at Lighthouse. Below are just a few of the many ways we could use your help.

Leader: Charlie Massingill

From greeting our guests with a smile to handing them a bulletin and answering any questions they might have, the welcome team plays an integral role in making people feel at home.

Leader: Bill Nelson

The worship team helps prepare our church to connect with God. There are several ways you can serve: either on stage as part of the worship team, or behind the scenes as part of our Audio-Visual team. Both are integral parts of our worship experience. If you have a desire to use your gifts for God’s glory, then we would love to have you join our team.

Leader: Cheri Rothenberg

One of the greatest investments you can make is investing in the next generation. Each Sunday, our children gather in age-appropriate settings to do crafts, play games and learn about God in a safe, loving environment. If you would like to pour into the future of the church, then we’d love to talk to you about serving in our children’s ministry.

Serve Our Community

God is doing amazing things in our community, and we look
for ways to join Him in radiating His love to our neighbors.
Our church partners with local nonprofits and other churches
to serve our city in the name of Jesus.

Leader: Bill Nelson

Fresh Beginnings Ministries is a faith based non-profit organization which exists to assist and serve people experiencing homelessness and near homelessness. We provide food, training of mentors, and personal supportive care to an under served community.

Missionary: John Begin

Homelessness is a very real issue in our community. Thankfully, both the city and the church have taken an active role in addressing it here in Costa Mesa. Working together, we are striving to love our hurting neighbors and help them find refuge. And it’s working. Over the past two years, our efforts have helped over 300 homeless find permanent housing. John Begin is a full-time missionary with Trellis, a parachurch organization dedicated to supporting the outreach efforts of churches in Costa Mesa. John has been walking with the homeless in Costa Mesa for years and he now leads Trellis’ homeless initiative. Serve Our World

The mandate to love our neighbors transcends borders. In addition to organizing mission trips throughout the year, Lighthouse supports a number of missionaries who are advancing the gospel around the world.

God is on the move in Costa Rica, and we love joining Him. We have partnered with pastors in the cities of Jaco and Manuel Antonio to help them reach their communities with the love of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in participating in one of our trips, please email with your name and information.  It will be both relational (ministering to children and impoverished families) and physical (we will swing a hammer or two).

Missionaries: Craig and Sarah Marshall

Craig and Sarah Marshall work with Wycliffe Bible Translators in an Asian country, doing Bible translation and holistic ministry.  They currently lead a team composed of 15 men and women who are translating the New Testament for three Asian groups who don’t yet have the Bible in their language. The Marshalls, who have four children, are based out of the San Diego, CA.

Missionary: Marty and Becca Hooper

Marty Hooper, founder of International Evangelism Ministry, has traveled to more than 30 countries to evangelize and train leaders. When he and his wife Becca are not evangelizing across the globe, he loves to come alongside pastors and leaders within the church to equip them to reach their community with the good news of Jesus Christ.
